Wintergreen Couch

Wintergreen Couch

Wintergreen Couch is a soft dense fine leaf lawn that needs a full sun position. Although commonly used on sports grounds and golf courses, this drought-tolerant lawn is fantastic for children and dogs.  Wintergreen Couch grass has a creeping/runner growth and a deep root system, making it exceptionally fast with self-repairing. In Summer it recovers rapidly from any wear and damage. The runners with their deep root system will, however, find their way under any garden edges and pop up in your garden beds.

Turf Summary

Wintergreen Couch has a fine, dense leaf that is soft to touch and self-repairs easily. A turf known for being hard-wearing, Wintergreen Couch is drought-tolerant and requires little water once established.

Commonly used in both residential and commercial use, Wintergreen Couch is a warm-season couch that will thrive in full sun.

Installation & Maintenance

For best results, we recommend laying Wintergreen Couch between September and April.

Wintergreen Couch should be mowed regularly to keep the turf short.

When weeding your couch, we recommend hand-picking weeds by their roots. Weed and Feed products are fantastic to use on this variety of turf, but before using any chemicals on your lawn, always read the product label for full directions, application, safety directions and guidelines.

Characteristics

With a gorgeous mid to light green colour, Wintergreen Couch will become darker with fertilisation. This turf thrives with deep watering (a large amount of water at once, as opposed to frequent small waters) as it promotes the root system to go lower into the soil profile. Couch by nature is a very invasive grass, the turf runners grow under the ground as well as on the top of the ground therefore it’s great for large areas but has the potnetial to find its way into garden beds.

Wintergreen Couch will become dormant during the cooler month and during Winter, will lose its lush green colour, becoming a green/yellow colour. In extremely cold temperatures the turf may turn yellow or brown, resulting from the frost burning the turf’s leaves. If you do get a heavy frost, you can help to stop it from burning the lawn by watering your turf in the morning to wash the ice off the leaves. Once the weather warms up in Spring, once you mow the dead leaves off, you’ll reveal a green lawn!

Fertilising

Wintergreen Couch should be fertilised in April, September & November. Water the fertiliser in well for maximum effect.
